Assalaamu `Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu
1st Home
“I got two A’s the small boy said,
His voice was filled with glee.
His Father very bluntly asked,
“Why didn’t you get three A’s?”
“Mom, I’ve got the dishes done,”
The girl called from the door.
Her Mother very sarcastically asked,
“What about the floor did you sweep it yet?”
“I mowed the grass,” the teenage boy said,
“And put the mower away.”
His Father asked him with a shrug.
“Did you clean the car too?”
The children in the house next door
Seemed happy and content.
The same thing happened over there,
But this is how it went:
2nd Home
“I got two A’s the small boy said,
His voice was filled with glee.
His Father proudly said,
“That’s terrific! I’m glad you belong to me.”
“Mom, I’ve got the dishes done,”
The girl called from the door.
Her Mother smiled and softly said,
“Ma’shaa’Allah – each day I love you more.”
“I mowed the grass,” the teenage boy said,
“And put the mower away.”
His Father answered with much joy.
“Thanks for doing a great job, Son.”
May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala bestow upon us guidance and wisdom to encourage and increase those (thoughts and actions of our children) which are good and correct, those who are incorrect, because our children of today are the men and women of tomorrow. It is for this reason that we who are parents must be encouraged to give our children due consideration and directing them to which is good and correct by being model examples ourselves. Our children are the foundation of the ummah on which it’s future will be built and if their reformation is grounded upon the strong pillars of Allah Ta’ala’s Deen. With the establishment of good and correct Islamic character, there will be a brilliant future for this ummah, inshaa’Allahu.
The Prophet Sall Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:
“Mothers, fathers, teachers, and the society as a whole, will all be accountable in front of Allaah about the tarbiyyah (education and upbringing) of this generation. If its tarbiyah is good, then there will be happiness – both in this world and the Hereafter. If it is not, then there will be misery, and it will be a rope around your necks – since there occurs in the hadeeth: “Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you will be questioned about those who you are responsible for.” Related by al-Bukhaaree (13/111) and Muslim (no. 1829).
“All of you are shepherds, and each one is responsible for his flock. A leader of people is a shepherd over this family, and he is responsible for his flock. A woman is like a shepherd over her husband’s house and children, and she is responsible for them. And a slave is a guardian of his master’s property and is responsible for it. So all of you are guardians and are responsible for your charges.” (al-Bukhaaree and Muslim).
In the next 2 articles entitled: “Developing Your Child’s Confidence and Character” and “To My Child” respectively. The latter is poignant to tears and a timely reminder how much our children mean to us. I pray to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala to guide and grant you and myself who are parents, wisdom and patience seeking His Ta’ala’s Pleasure in carrying out our parental responsibilities..
Look out for the 2 articles on this website!
